Islamic Revival in the 21st Century by Dr Abdullah Hakim Quick
For a brief profile of Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick and a few of his sample lectures and talks please click here. According to a report by The International Center for Population Studies, an affiliate of Al-Azhar University of Cairo, Egypt: Muslims are 23 percent of earth’s population. There are over 170 million Muslims in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country, 70 million Muslims in China and over 54 million in the former Soviet States. The majority of Muslims are youth and children. Children below five years old represent 43 percent of the Muslim World! By the year 2020, our population will be expected to reach 2.5 billion, Insha Allah. We are blessed with amazing riches in the Muslim World. Over 40 percent of the mineral wealth of the planet lies under Muslim countries. We have thousands of doctors, engineers, scientists and intellectuals. We spend billions in technology, especially for the military. With all these wealth what have we done? Why are there still hardship and struggles still happening in our Ummahs lands? The armies of the Western world and their allies are again pouring into the Middle East and surrounding the heartlands of Islam. Thousands of children have died in Iraq as a result of unjust sanctions. False justifications of fighting “terror”, or disarming governments which were created and armed by the same Western powers, are being used as means of destroying the next generation of Muslim youth. Where are the Muslim leaders and their huge armies? What has happened to the billions of dollars spent to prepare their own military defense systems? Something fundamental has to change in the essence of our Islam. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) and his companions did not have the support of millions of people or fabulous oil and mineral wealth, but Allah (SWT) gave them authority in the land. What have they done to deserve this? What can we learn from them? “The time has come for Muslims to re-examine their relationship with the Creator and bring out the real Islamic personality that can transform a puppet, despotic ruler into a noble servant of humanity or a weak, humiliated Muslim into a mighty defender of Truth” - Dr Abdullah Hakim Quick THE 2008 ANNUAL FUND RAISING DINNER Theme: Strength Through Imaan Time & Date: 8.00 PM | 28 June 2008 Venue: Dewan Serbaguna (Civic Centre) MBPJ, Jalan Yong Shook Lin 46675 Petaling Jaya
