Information Technology and Muslim Society in Malaysia and Japan


Department of Economics, FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND ADMINISTRATION, UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA in collaboration with Waseda University of Japan insya-allah will be having a Workshop on

“Information Technology and Muslim Society in Malaysia and Japan"

Date: 28 & 29 August 2008

Venue: Conference Room, Post Graduate Building, Faculty of Economics & Administration, University of Malaya

The workshop will discuss the implications and perspectives of IT innovations, focusing on the following two points (i) structural changes in the Muslim society, including the conflict between Islamic tradition and a wave of cultural and lifestyle homogenization brought by IT and (ii) digital in those circumstances.

The workshop will consist of five sessions, covering the fields of egineering, sociology, education, finance and culture. The discussion will concentrate on those fields with great emphasis on empirical/case studies on Muslim society. IT is one of the crucial keywords.

Attached is the detail schedule of the two-day workshop.
